Privacy Policy

Information you provide. When you call a number on the Site or otherwise contact us, we may collect your name, telephone number, address or service area, and the details of your service request (for example, the plumbing problem you describe).

Call data and recordings. The phone numbers on the Site are call-tracking numbers. When you call, we and our call-tracking vendors collect the number you dialed, your caller ID, the date, time, and duration of the call, and the routing of the call to a Service Provider. Calls may be recorded or monitored for quality assurance — see “Consent to Call Recording” below.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site we automatically collect certain technical information, such as your IP address, approximate location derived from your IP address, browser type, device and operating system, the pages you view, and how you reached the Site. We collect this through cookies and similar technologies, including Google Analytics and our call-tracking vendor's scripts, which use this data to measure Site usage and attribute calls to advertising campaigns.

Calls placed to or from Book Local Plumbers, including calls we connect or transfer between you and Service Providers, may be recorded or monitored for quality assurance, training, and compliance purposes. Where notice is required, you will be notified at the beginning of a recorded call. By continuing a call after such notice, you consent to the recording.

We use the information described above to:

• Connect your call to an independent Service Provider serving your area and complete your service request;
• Operate, analyze, and improve the Site and our referral service;
• Measure advertising performance, including attributing calls to the campaigns that generated them;
• Respond to your questions and provide customer service;
• Protect against fraud and misuse, enforce our terms, and comply with legal obligations;
• Contact you about your service request or, with your consent where required, about offers we think may interest you.

By calling a number on the Site or submitting your telephone number to us, you are requesting to be contacted regarding your plumbing service inquiry, and you agree that we and the Service Provider(s) designated to fulfill your request may call or text you at that number about your request, including through automated technology, even if your number appears on a federal or state Do-Not-Call list. Consent to marketing messages is not a condition of using the service. If your telephone number changes or is reassigned, please notify us at 805-637-3844.

We may share your information with:

• Service Providers you ask to be connected with. When we transfer your call, the receiving plumbing professional receives your caller information and the details of your request. Their use of your information is governed by their own privacy practices;
• Vendors working on our behalf, such as call-tracking, call-routing, analytics, and advertising platforms, which are permitted to use the information only to perform services for us;
• Legal and safety recipients, when required by law, subpoena, or governmental request, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, users, or others;
• A successor business, if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will provide notice of any change in ownership or use of your personal information.

Sharing your information with Service Providers and advertising partners as described above may constitute a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under certain state privacy laws. You may opt out as described in “Your California Privacy Rights” below.

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember preferences, analyze traffic, and attribute phone calls to advertising campaigns. We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate Site usage; you can learn how Google uses data at google.com/policies/privacy/partners. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, though parts of the Site may not function as intended. Like most websites, the Site does not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.

The Site may link to websites we do not operate, including websites of Service Providers. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites, which are governed by their own policies.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information we collect, and we limit access to personal information to personnel and vendors who need it to perform their work. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We will notify affected users and applicable regulators of a security breach involving personal information as required by law.

The Site is intended for users eighteen (18) years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

We will verify your identity before acting on a request and may decline requests that are unreasonably repetitive, jeopardize the privacy of others, or are impractical. Residual copies may persist in backups for a period after deletion.

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended (“CCPA”), gives you the following rights:

• Right to know. You may request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you in the past 12 months, the sources of that information, our purposes for collecting it, and the categories of third parties with whom we shared it.
• Right to delete. You may request that we delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
• Right to correct. You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
• Right to opt out of sale or sharing. You may direct us not to sell or share your personal information with third parties.
• Non-discrimination. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

In the preceding 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers (such as name, phone number, and IP address); customer records information; commercial information (such as service requests); and internet or network activity (such as Site usage data). We disclose these categories to the Service Providers who fulfill your requests and to the vendors described above, which may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” under the CCPA.
